Odiham Parish Council serves the villages of Odiham and North Warnborough and incorporates the RAF Station, RAF Odiham with approximately 2,300 dwellings. The 2011 census records a population of 5,616 which is currently estimated to be 5,680.
The Parish Council office is located in the heart of Odiham in The Bridewell, The Bury, Odiham in the vicinity of the beautiful Georgian High Street, a historic Church, a cemetery and 2 of the 3 schools in the Parish. The Basingstoke Canal and a number of Conservation Areas can be accessed from various points in Odiham and North Warnborough.
To ensure equal representation for residents, the Council is split into 3 wards – the Odiham ward has 6 Councillors, North Warnborough 3 Councillors and the RAF ward 1 Councillor. These boundaries are set by the Boundary Commission and subject to periodic reviews. The Council has a governance structure which allows Councillors to participate fully in all activities and Council business. Parish Councillors are elected to their voluntary position every four years, with the last elections taking place in May 2019. On behalf of its residents, the Council owns and manages 5 play areas in Chamberlain Gardens, Bufton Fields, Chapel Pond Drive and two in the Recreation Ground. The Council also owns and manages King Street Cemetery; King Street public conveniences; the Parish room where its meetings take place and the tennis courts and bowling green which are run by the local clubs.
Grants are made twice a year in January and July to assist local community groups and charities who serve our residents.
The Council is a statutory consultee for all planning applications received by Hart District Council. The planning committee support the interests of all residents when responding to Hart DC.
Odiham Parish Council employs s full time Parish Clerk, part-time Deputy Parish Clerk and part-time Admin Officer to ensure that the Council is operating in accordance with the latest legislation and strive for best practice and a caretaker for the Parish room.
