The Bridewell is currently the Council’s largest project and utilises considerable Council time and resources. As such, the Council carried out due diligence before making the decision to accept the building from Hampshire County Council and the ongoing project to transform it into a thriving community hub.
The first Business Plan was adopted in January 2022 prior to formally taking on the freehold in March 2022. The Plan demonstrates extensive research and community support.
The second, current Business Plan adopted in February 2023 sets out the short to medium priority required works and the process the Council will take in achieving these priorities. The Plan also includes concept plans showing the future vision which were agreed following a public community consultation in May 2022.
Longer term plans which will fulfill the Council’s vision of fully transforming this Grade II listed building into a thriving community hub will involve a third business plan which will be under development during 2024.
