Did you know….?

That walking is incredibly good for you. In fact, Doctors recommend walking 13 million steps a day, or something…. we’ll have to check the exact number. But, we mention this, because we would like to respectfully remind people that with the CLOSURE OF THE HIGH STREET AND LONDON ROAD THIS FRIDAY for the Freedom Celebration Parade, space is going to be an absolute premium. And with hundreds of people expected to attend, it is expected that available parking spaces will be minimal. The road closure will include SUSPENSION OF THE PARKING BAYS ON THE HIGH STREET FROM PALACE GATE TO KING STREET.

So, if you are attending the parade this Friday, and you are able, please walk to the village. Many thanks in advance! A reminder of the plan then:

• London Road will close from 12.30pm for the parade to be dropped off at The Cross Barn. The Parade will line up in the road and step off at 1.15pm. London Road will re-open as soon as the Parade has moved onto the High Street.

• The event starts with a town crier cry at the war memorial at 1.10pm which will be repeated at 1.13pm by the dais.

• The parade is estimated to finish at 2.20pm and the High Street will re-open to traffic at 2.45pm at the very latest, likely to be sooner, to allow access to The Bury for the schools pick-up.
