NOTICE OF A PARISH COUNCILLOR CASUAL VACANCY
North Warnborough Ward, Odiham Parish Council
Applications are invited for co-option
Odiham Parish Council covers the civic parish of Odiham which includes Odiham, North Warnborough and RAF Odiham. Ten councillors make up the Council who are appointed to represent the interests of residents. Following a councillor’s resignation, there is a vacancy covering the North Warnborough Ward.
All councillors are required to join full Council meetings which are generally held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm. The commitment of time required to carry out the councillor function varies, depending on the different committees, but all councillors should allow sufficient time between meetings to read and action emails.
Some of the Council’s work is delegated to committees and working groups and councillors have the opportunity to chose which groups to join, to suit personal interests and skills in line with available time. For example:
- The Planning & Development Committee meets once every three weeks, generally on Zoom, as a statutory consultee on planning applications within the area.
- The Amenity Areas Committee meets quarterly and manages the Council’s buildings and open space facilities.
- The quarterly Finance Committee oversees the Council’s financial governance and administration.
- There is a capital projects working group which will oversee improvements to The Bridewell Community Hub and propose allocation of funds for future projects.

All applications will be referred to the next scheduled Council meeting for consideration and you will be invited to attend the meeting in person to present your application. Applications received by 11th September will be considered by Council on 15th September.

*Eligibility for office: electors over the age of 18, living or working in the Parish or within 3 miles of the Parish and not disqualified under the terms of the full Regulations which can be read under the Local Government Act 1972, sections 79-80.
