📍📍Reminder of emergency SSE works in King Street and The Bury area starting Monday 19th January! 📍📍
The works will start at King Street on 5th January then move through The Bury in phases. Access to the area will be restricted with a diversion route in place.
We will keep you updated should it be necessary to close any of the Parish Council owed buildings during the works – The Bridewell, Parish Room (heritage centre) or public toilets on King Street.

“Durkin and Sons will be undertaking these works on behalf of SSE to address a significant health and safety concern caused by a faulty underground electrical cable in the area. We are fully committed to ensuring that all appropriate measures are taken to reduce disruption to residents, local charities, and the surrounding area as much as possible.
Below is an outline of the anticipated programme for each road. Please note that these dates are estimated only and are intended as a guideline, assuming everything goes to plan. They are not exact dates, so please do not be concerned if you see us working in another street ahead of the schedule. We will endeavour to keep everyone informed within this email chain as we approach each new phase of the works.

Church Street: 16/02/2026 – 24/03/2026
The Bridewell: 02/03/2026 – 13/03/2026
