We’re delighted to announce details of a “Freedom Celebration Parade” and scroll presentation on Friday 27th June!
To commemorate and celebrate 100 years of military flying at RAF Odiham, Odiham Parish Council has used its historic authority to award the “Freedom of the Parish” to RAF Odiham, in recognition of our deep appreciation to everyone who serves and works at RAF Odiham.
This practice, rooted in medieval traditions, is a way for parish councils to formally recognise and honour outstanding service or contribution to the community. Whilst the award itself doesn’t carry legal rights or responsibilities, it’s a highly regarded civic distinction and the highest honour the Parish Council can award.
The Freedom Celebration Parade is a formal, ceremonial event when RAF Odiham will be granted the “Freedom of the Parish of Odiham”, followed by a presentation of the Freedom scroll. The privilege allows them to march through the Parish with full military honours – drums beating, colours flying, and bayonets fixed.
We invite the community in joining us for this prestigious event. Together we celebrate the people of RAF Odiham – for their service, commitment and achievements, and we look forward to ensuring they receive the recognition they deserve.
Please note temporary local road closures will be in place. Further information is available in the event poster, at https://odihamparishcouncil.gov.uk/events/freedom-parade?occurrence=2025-06-27 or by contacting the Parish Office on 01256 702716.
