At the full Council meeting on 18th July, Odiham Parish Council agreed to award a contract to Troy Planning Ltd to conduct an independent health check of the Odiham & North Warnborough Neighbourhood Plan.
The Plan was adopted in 2017 following extensive consultation with the community and received a strong majority of approval at referendum. This vote recognises that the Plan gives the best protection from over development in the future by setting clear design principles which become part of local planning policy.
There are no rules or formulas dictating when the Plan should be reviewed. 5 years is considered to be a reasonable period of time but determining whether the plan is still effective will give the best protection. Hart has advised the Odiham & North Warnborough Plan is still being used to effectively support planning decisions and appeals and this independent health check, which checks against local and national planning policies, will inform the Parish Council on next steps.
